New Year, Fresh Start

I won’t bore you the excuses. I’m just going to jump back into blogging as if I didn’t disappear for a few months. One of the things I’ve been working on is getting organized. One day in late October, early November, I came home to a dusty, unorganized, mess of a house. My husband and I both work full time, our two children play sports and somehow I became president of the middle school PTA. I promised myself, some time ago, that no matter what I would make sure my family had at least 3 home cooked meals each week and when my children had a question or wanted to talk, I would take the time to focus on them. I believe I have been successful at these things. But something has to fall through the huge holes left in my day. That thing is the organization of my home.
We have piles of papers, stacks of clothes, dusty tables, and clutter just about everywhere. Yep, we are that family. Feeling frustrated and determined I went to the place everyone goes to find someway to get my home back on track, Pinterest!
There, you can find ways to organize your life that take 1 day to 52 weeks. I decided to be honest with myself and go the 52 week route. I know myself, it may take me a week to complete one task. I found a 52 week guide and tweaked it a little.
First, my kids are 13 (twins), so I’m not going to clean or organize their rooms. They can handle that.
Second, I will not clean my husband’s bathroom or office space. We decided some time ago, that he will take care of these areas.
With those things in mind, I opened my calendar and began scheduling weekly chores. Some things repeat once a month and others once a year. We all know our own home, so I believe deciding what to do or when to do it is based upon each person.
First thing I scheduled myself to do was to spend a week getting my cleaning supplies together. I prefer to make my own cleaning products, I can share those recipes with you as I go along. I am dedicating this year to getting myself organized, crossing one more thing off my list. So please join me in this process. I will shame myself and post the pictures of my clutter and the cleaned organized results.
Happy New Year CJ! Looking forward to following your organized home journey. Welcome back. 🙂
