Clean, Organized Life- Make Cleaning Supplies
1January 18, 2015 by CJ
One of the ways the procrastinator in me wins the cleaning and organizing battle is when I don’t have what I need to get a job completed. “What, I need to dust? But I don’t have any dusting spray…Oh well, guess that’ll have to wait.” That is why I think it is important to set aside some time to make sure I have all the things I need.
I mentioned in my first post of the year, that I make some of my own cleaning supplies. This is something that I have on my calendar to do once every 2 months. I started doing it because of the sensitive skin and allergies that run rampant in my home. I feel as though it has helped quite a bit. I use to make my own dish washing detergent, but that did not work for me. Our dishes just constantly came out cloudy. I tore my dish washer apart cleaning it, mixed various items together, but nothing ever worked out 100%. Currently, we are using mass-produced dish detergent and all my dishes are sparkling clean. I’ll have to look into new recipes for my dishwasher, so far the ones I have found just don’t work for my household.
What is working for me is making my own laundry detergent, cleaning cloth, bathroom cleaner and all-purpose cleaner. As I go through this week, I plan on making all of these items and I will share the how to with you.
Another thing on my to do list this week is to clean my make-up brushes. For the bulk of my life, I did not wear makeup on a regular basis. Now, that I work in a business-like setting, I do. I wear it about 4-5 days a week and sometimes on the weekends. I am working hard to keep my skin clean and clear, and having clean makeup brushes is a must! From what I read they should be cleaned once every 2 weeks, so I’ve added this to my schedule.
I wear make up almost every day and am useless at remembering to clean my brushes most of them end up with a quick rub down with a baby wipe lol
