Time to Hit The Planks

A new month and a new challenge.  My challenge for March is to embark upon the 30 Day Plank challenge.  Since March has 31 days, I’m beginning this challenge on the 2nd.  What is the 30 Day Plank Challenge?  It is a challenge to strengthen your core.  Each day you place your body into the plank position and hold it for a designated amount of time.  It begins with 20 seconds and ends with 300 seconds (or as long as you can, depends on which version of the challenge you decide to do).  If you are a runner (at any stage) having a strong core is key to improving your speed.  It would help if I ran every so often too, but I’ll worry about that later.  For now, March is dedicated to building a strong, tight core.  Are you in?

I just started taking intensive exercise classes 3 times a week…. And last Saturday was my first attempt at planking. I was so excited to hold for just 10 seconds! The thought of even 20 seconds, much less 300, makes me hurt a little in my abdomen. Good for you for doing this challenge.

OMG!! I had no clue how long a 20 second plank would take, trust me, it felt a lot longer than 20 seconds. Today is 30…I’ll have to post about these planks soon.

I had to do the math, 300 seconds is 5 minutes. Planking for 5 minutes straight….I am out. hahaha But I wish you the best of luck, and now I might even try planking a little each day just to see how long I could hold it. Thanks for sharing!!

5 minutes seems impossible. I’ll be impressed if I can hold it for a minute! And thank YOU for sharing, greatly appreciate the reblog. 🙂

An interesting challenge. I don’t ever foresee myself holding plank for 5 minutes straight, but I am kinda curious hold long I could build up to daily. Might have to try my own version of this.

By the way, I have been following 50 Things Before I Turn 50 for a long time. She’s great! Check her out.

  4. […] I failed my third 30 day challenge, 30 Day Plank Challenge.  I started off with little problem.  It was tough, my arms and body did shake, but I was pushing […]
