Stitch Fix #5
6February 7, 2014 by CJ
I received my 5th Stitch Fix at the end of January. When I saw that my credit card had been charged the $20 styling fee, I went to the site to check out what I would be receiving. A skirt, cardigan, sweater and 2 blouses. Typically, that would make me very happy. BUT, I noticed 3 of the items were from 41Hawthorn. While I love the design and quality of 41Hawthorn products, they just don’t fit me. All the items of clothing I receive are sized XL. Their XL just doesn’t fit me well in the shoulders and chest. When I have one of their items on, I feel like it I sneezed or flexed in some way my top would rip at the seams. In other words, their tops make me feel a bit Incredible Hulkish. I don’t know about you, but that’s the last way I want to feel. Maybe after a few pounds are lost they will fit me better. Not sure, right now, my favorite items from Stitch Fix are from Ravel. Love their clothes and they fit me perfectly.
That being said, when I did get my box, it was not a complete disappointment.
Kensie Benzer Mixed Material Sweater $78.00. I wasn’t 100% sure how I felt about the “look” of this sweater. The material was thin, so it’s still not the thick, chunky sweater I have been hoping for. I did find it interesting, until I tried it on. Was not a good look on me.
41Hawthorn Filbert 3/4 Sleeve Popover Blouse $58.00. I really liked this blouse and wanted it to fit. Unfortunately, it fit me like past 41Hawthorn items have, tight and hulkish. 😦
41Hawthorn Ivy Tulip Print Tab Sleeve Blouse $68.00. My daughter loved this blouse. Again, too tight on shoulders and chest on me. i would have kept it for her, if it wasn’t $68.00.
Lily Calla Solid Swing Skirt $58.00. I liked this skirt. Wanted to keep it. I just didn’t love it. After taking some time to think about it, I realized it would have just sat in my closet. I don’t wear a lot of skirts, maybe I’ll start. But this weather we are experiencing in the northeast isn’t helping. Maybe I’ll pick up one in the spring or request this be resent to me.
41Hawthorn Abrianna Longsleeve Knit Cardigan $48.00. I loved this sweater immediately. My office is cold year round. Currently I keep a jacket on the back of my chair when chilly. I’ve been saying I was going to buy a sweater for work, but whenever I had extra money, I wasn’t finding a black sweater (I had it stuck in my head black was what I needed) that I liked. As soon as I set eyes on this sweater, I knew it was a keeper. I LOVE the color! A beautiful green sweater never entered my imagination. Now, this is why I love and need Stitch Fix in my life.
Overall, I kept one item from my box. An item that I wanted and needed, in a color that I wasn’t looking for. I accept that not every item in the box will be a sure thing for me. If I can find at least one thing from my box that I love, then I think it’s worth it.
How was your last fix? Was it worth it?

Love the cardigan, can’t help thinking the top sweater might have been better if it had also had a shirt collar peeking out the top rather than just the bit at the bottom, as for the pop over blouses I have to say I have tried on a couple of different makes in similar styles and I have yet to find one that fit nicely so you are not alone 😀
I think you are right about the collar on the first sweater. I feel better knowing I’m not the only one :). Love the cardigan. Wore it to work today with a blouse and jeans, worked perfectly
Love the cardigan — the open look is so versatile. And I agree completely about the grey sweater with the blouse hem — if it had also had the shirt collar — and maybe even cuffs rolled up at the ends of the sleeves — it would have worked better. I’ve had three fixes so far and I think one good find per Fix is just fine. This time I kept two things.
Thanks for stopping by. I completely agree with you. I am really, really happy when I find two things in a fix. 😉
OOO – I am totally oogling that red shirt, I hope something like that shows up in my next fix. Also LOVE the cardigan! good choice!
