January Ipsy

I haven’t blogged about my Ipsy glam bags in awhile. I admit, last month didn’t leave me feeling all that wonderful about the bag, therefore made it difficult to write when I had regular life (work, kids, holidays, family) going on. My January Glam Bag was different. January left me feeling all warm and fuzzy about Ipsy. It was all that I wanted from a subscription sample box.
I’ve made some self discoveries since I’ve been getting subscription boxes. I love skincare and hair products. I’m not a big makeup girl. While I love getting the things I use on a regular basis, mascara, eyeliner, lipgloss, I swoon when I get a new facial cleanser or hair mask! My biggest issue, in the past, was that some of the hair products I received were not for my hair. Now I may try a new lip color or new blush, one thing I won’t do, is use a hairspray to add volume or shampoo for oily hair. But for $10, I don’t complain…much. But it did inspire me to create my own box. I searched high and low for a service that would provide shampoos, conditioners, hair treatments for my hair. I wanted to complete a questionnaire, note that I didn’t want hairspray or shampoo (at the time I wasn’t in the mood for new shampoos), and then get a box that at the very least equaled what I had paid for it. I couldn’t find it. So I created my own, I Want To Try It. I’ll get more into all that I have learned since beginning this process in another post. For now, let’s get back to ipsy and the awesomeness of my January Glam Bag!!
Malin+Goetz Mojito Lip Balm– I don’t know about you, but my lips and those of all my family members stay dry and chapped. Between the cold weather and drying heat inside, we are all suffering. I really like this. It glides on easily (no applicator) and gives a slight tingle. FULLSIZE Value $12.00
Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow Creamy Eye Pencil– I prefer to keep my makeup neutral. This eye shadow pencil in penny (very light shimmery copper), is perfect. I am looking forward to trying this. Value $7.50
Rodan & Fields Proactiv +– I do suffer with acne and this is the first time I actually received something to address it. I used the proactiv system many years ago and it worked. But I have not tried the new Proactiv+. I may have to go back to Proactiv. Value ? It doesn’t appear you can purchase the pads separately.
Faith Aromatherapy Tahitian Monoi Anti-Aging Scrub– I am a scrub junkie. Cannot have enough! This contains monoi oil, which locks in moisture. Perfect time of year to try this, even with oily skin, I do get dry spots from time to time. Value $1.50
Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask– I admit, I got all tingly when I saw this. I am a sucker for deep conditioning masks. I deep condition weekly and love to find new products. I am actually looking forward to washing my hair!! Value $5.00
This month my Ipsy Glam Bag is a steal! I paid $10.00 and received over $25.00 of products. Not only that, for the first time the glam bag actually resembles the quiz I took when I first signed up. I don’t know if it is luck of the draw or if they are spending more time matching products with the right people. Who knows, I just know that for this month I am a very happy Ipsy subscriber!
Did you get your Ipsy Glam Bag? What are your thoughts?
I forgot to ask if you get rewards for your boxes, for Glossybox you get 50pts per product for answering a short survey about it, once you collect 1000pts you get to trade it for a free Glossybox basically meaning every 5th ox is free if you do them all
I do get points if I review the products. I don’t always do that, my laziness I suppose.
I loved the mask too. I loved the smell. I really would have loved the lip balm though. I am a lip junkie. Here’s my bag http://outofthesubscriptionbox.wordpress.com/2014/01/22/ipsy-january-2014/
