October Honest Box

This isn’t my first honest box, this is actually my second.  I received my first one last month, but didn’t want to blog about it unless I actually liked it.  Guess what?  LOVED IT!!

I decided to get this box, because of reading about it in a blog called My Subscription Addiction (WARNING!! Only read if you are ready to get hooked on subscription boxes).  I read her reviews and locked them away somewhere in my brain.  Then recently, my son began having itchy skin.  He also started complaining about certain foods and clothes making him feel funny.  I am a strong believer that a person’s body can only tolerate so many irritants.  Once they become overloaded, allergic reactions begin.  This is just my thought, I can’t prove it anywhere.  With this in mind, I decided to look into reducing some of the chemicals we use around the house.  So very happy I found Honest Company.

What is it?  It’s a company that believes, “products people use should be safe and non-toxic.”  You can view the list of all the things Honest Company’s products do not contain on their Honest Free Guarantee.  Knowing all these things, I just wanted to wait and try them before telling you my thoughts or subscribing to their service.

My first box included the following:

Bathroom cleaner- knocks our bathroom dirt away, without the chemical smell

Organic Cotton Dish Towels- I was in need of new dish towels and decided to add-on.  Love them!

Dish Soap in Lavender- Suds up with the best of them, no complaints here

Laundry Detergent- I was hesitant because I am one of those people who love the smell of freshly washed clothes.  This leaves no scent, but it gets my clothes clean.  I love I don’t have to worry about it being too harsh on my children’s skin

Oxy Boost- I use this with the laundry detergent.  Helps in getting all the unwanted smells out of clothes (ever smell a preteen boy?)

Auto Dishwasher Gel- Cleans like the name brands out there, actually better

Multi-surface Cleaner- I use this in my kitchen and it gets out counters and table top clean.  Again, knowing there are no residual chemicals make me feel a lot better

4 in 1 Laundry Pods- Haven’t tried this yet, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to love it like the rest of their products.

So, how it works.  You log onto their site, set up an account.  Pick 5 items for your bundle for the Essential Bundle $35.95, which I received.  There is also the Health and Wellness Bundle and Diapers and Wipes Bundle (79.95 for a monthly supply).  You can then pick another 3 items for an additional 25% off on each item.

Now, on to what I got this month!

Honest Laundry Detergent

The detergent worked so well and lasted us through the month, I decided to get it again.  Pretty sure, this will be a monthly staple for me.

Honest Floor Cleaner

I decided to get the floor cleaner, since I had such good luck with the multi-surface cleaner.

Honest Rinse Aid

This came right on time.  I was out of rinse aid and I love that I am now using one that does not have all the chemicals.  Knowing we are not ingesting harsh chemicals makes me feel much better

Honest Face + Body Lotion

I picked this up, hoping it will help with my son’s sensitive skin.  I’ll let you know.

Honest Dishwasher Pods

I received the liquid last time, but that seemed to confuse the other people in my home that load and run the dishwasher (oh the drama!).  I was happy to see they have the pods.  I hope they work as well as the liquid.  Again, I’ll keep you posted.

One of the things I love about this subscription is you can put it on hold, you can just purchase what you need and you can return and exchange items.  Their site is easy to use and products work well.

Have you tried Honest Company??  If you are interested in trying Honest Company, they are currently offering up a special.  They are giving away a super cute Halloween canvas tote with any purchase over $35.00.  Use FREETOTE at checkout to get your tote.  Purchase must be made by 31October or while supplies last.
