Totally Addicted

I mentioned in my last post that my newest addiction is subscription boxes. I feel as though I am late to the subscription box game, but just in case you don’t know what they are about let me tell you. Basically, you pay a monthly fee which start around $10 and I’ve seen some as high as $300, and you get a box full of goodies. I stumbled upon this thing when I received a wine shipment from my wine club. I belong to Club W. This is a wine club a friend suggested to me. You complete a profile about your tastes and from there they recommend wine (great prices, btw). If you are interested, you can use this link.

Anyway, when I opened my wine box there was a postcard in there from a company called, Love With Food. For as low as $10.00 (if you pay for a year, $12 if you pay per month) you get a box of 8+ new gourmet food items AND they’ll donate a meal to a hungry child! I looked over the site and signed myself up. My first box won’t come until June… so that left me wondering, are there other boxes like this out there? Um YES!!!

After a quick google search I found there were subscription boxes for just about everything. I quickly signed up for a few beauty boxes (Birchbox and Ipsy), hair care boxes (Curl Box and BoomBox), and a snack box (Peckish).

It can quickly become an addiction. I have to stop myself from signing up for any more, even though I really, really want to. To date I have received boxes from Birchbox, Ipsy and Peckish and I love all 3. When it comes to these boxes it is important to feel as thought you are getting your moneys worth. I feel I have, so far. I’ve read reviews from others that feel differently.

I enjoy getting new products to try. I feel at my age it’s easy to get stuck in a rut. I see it with friends and co-workers all the time. If they were wearing it and looking good in it in their early to mid 20’s, their hayday, they keep rockin’ that same look. It’s understandable why it happens. With the beauty and hair subscription boxes I am able to try new things and see how to use each item, thanks to many bloggers and video uploads. I received a blush in my May box from Birchbox, a color that I would never purchase. But I tried it and loved it! For me, that is what makes these boxes a good deal. As of right now, the things I don’t use for myself I plan on giving to my daughter, my niece, my sister, friends. I guess when my give away bag is bigger than my keep bag, I’ll adjust the services I use.

  • Do you use any subscription boxes? If so, which ones?
  • Are there more you want to try?

  1. You have made me think. You are right – it is a great way to try out new things without too much hassle. I think I may have to do a bit of research on this. Thanks for the heads up. xx

And there are a ton geared towards active lifestyles: BuluBox, StrideBox, RunnerBox to name a few. I could go broke if I subscribed to all the ones that interested me. 🙂
