When I pay for something I have the very bad habit of tossing the receipt in my purse and forgetting about it. A few weeks or months later, or whenever my pocketbook begins to feel as though it weighs 50lbs, I have the bright idea of cleaning it out. I always seem to find the same things, gum wrappers, take out menus, change, pens, lip gloss and receipts (it’s absolutely amazing how heavy all these things can feel). In the spirit of being organised (working on my list), I decided to tackle all my Christmas receipts just a few days ago.
I pulled all the little pieces of paper out of my purse and coat pockets and began sorting. I decided to toss anything that had been opened and tags ripped off (clothing), keep any electronics or something that may need to be and can be returned in the future. It was then that I began to notice something at the bottom of these slips of pressed cellulose, they all wanted my opinion AND they were willing to offer me money to get it.
I decided then and there I would start to take these retailers up on these offers. I don’t know about you, but most of the time when I shop the experience is so-so. There are things I love and things I hate. Every once in a while I’ll have outstanding service and every so often, I’ll experience sub-par service. These companies spend a lot of time and money creating these surveys, why not take a few minutes and let them know. Doing this, does not fall within my “taking time for me”. It falls more in line with, “Can I actually win something?”
Here goes nothing. I’m going to keep all my receipts and complete all surveys within the allotted time. I’m going to set up a separate email account, just in case these surveys are just out to add someone to their spam list, and if I happen to be a daily or monthly winner, I’ll let you know. By the end of this experiment I would like to know if:
- If I have a bad experience and complete the survey in such a way, will I hear back from the company
- Will I actually win one of these “daily/monthly drawings”
- Will my inbox be filled with spam
