There Will Be Days
5June 26, 2012 by CJ
I took the plunge and signed up with a running group. Most of the runners are training for the Baltimore half marathon. Currently, I am signed up for the Disney Wine and Dine half. I think I may sign up for the Baltimore half, I’m not 100% yet. But I knew after running the Baltimore 10-miler (yup I did it!), I could run a half and I wanted to run it stronger than the 10 miler.
I know I need to run with other people to give me the motivation and push I need to run faster and stronger. Running alone, I have a tendency to not push myself to go harder or eek out that extra half mile or so. This group will give me the emotional, physical and educational support I need. A physical therapist will meet with us weekly along with tempo runs and planned long runs. I don’t enjoy planning my own route. I prefer to run and discover new places, but when you need to get 6 or more miles in, it can be kinda difficult, for me at least. When I was training for the 10 miler I found myself cutting my runs short, because I had not planned properly.
I know this training will not be easy. There will be days I don’t want to go, I won’t want to run. There will be days my legs will hurt, my body will beg me to stay in bed. I’ll feel slow, sluggish and tired. But then again there will be days I will want to run, despite sore muscles, I’ll want to run. There will be days I’ll feel fast and full of energy. There will be days when I won’t want to stop running. I’m excited. I’m looking forward to all of it and I promise to do my best and share all the ups and downs with you.

That’s awesome! I can’t wait to read about your experiences with your running group.
I’m excited to read about this! I think this kind of motivation is fabulous.
Thanks! Our first group run is Saturday and after being on vacation all week (which means eating and drinking tons), I’m a little scared.
