Blog Reading??
9January 29, 2012 by CJ
Do you read other blogs? I placed it on my list of 50 things, because I realized to be a better blog writer, I need to read more blogs. I usually begin with the Freshly Pressed. For those of you reading this because you are a friend or family member, Freshly Pressed are the blogs the people at WordPress have deemed exceptional. They post a new set of Freshly Pressed blogs Monday-Friday. Because of that page, I am now a faithful reader of the following blogs:
I also found another place to “get my read in”, the Topics page. There, you are faced with a jumble of words.
Just click on one. Then you are taken to all the most recent posts that was tagged under that topic. I found that I prefer certain topics over others, Parenting over Children, Blogging over Blog and Running over Fitness. There isn’t much rhyme or reason, but those are some of my favorites. From that page I am a dedicated reader to the following blogs:
- Check My Pulse
- Listen to the sun rise
- Slowrunnings
- 365 Trinkets
- Mae East
- laidoffhusband
- SAHMmelier
- whineandcheersforwine
- SlickLaRoo
- My Blog
- Listful Thinking
- jonwatersauthor
- Will Run For Glitter
Reading other people’s blogs not only inspire me to get out and run, give me new ideas on activities I can do with my kids, or remind me that I need to take time for myself. Reading someone else’s blog, is like being invited into a stranger’s home. Not just their home, but into their world, into their inner sanctum. I feel like an eagerly anticipated guest. Time was taken to ensure my comfort. Effort was made to make sure I enjoyed my stay and when it’s all done, my host only wants an honest comment, if that.
That’s why I read blogs, what about you?
That’s the great fun of blogging – there’s so much of interest out there.
I am so thrilled to be on your list! I read blogs because they open up a whole new world. There’s so much diversity, so many characters, so many stories, and sometimes you stumble on a topic or an idea that’s truly inspiring.
Happy reading! And running! 🙂
Thanks for putting me on your list! I, too, love the intimacy that blog reading provides-the “real” experience, emotions, struggles of others help me feel more sane. The opportunity to connect, comfort, inspire and laugh with one another provides a piece of adult time in my child filled day. Thank you for writing and sharing!
love your blogs!! and thank u for taking the time to read mine : ) i greatly appreciate it!
I’m thrilled to read other people’s blogs. I’ve found some very interesting perspectives and it’s always great for setting your own mind spinning when you’re searching for inspiration or a topic of your own. Cheers, and thanks for stopping by mine!
I read blogs because I really want to get better at it, it helps me get better at writing, and I do love to write. I also read blogs because they make me feel more inspired – like an everyday person who is saying something that makes a difference in my world…. I also love the ones that make me laugh. I’m so glad you asked 😉
I haven’t given much thought to a bucket list 🙂 Nor do I find much time to read other peoples blogs … I wish I did but gees, I woke up and saw it was February! I’d like to say someday I’ll get around to it … but as Creedence Clearwater Revival sing “some day never comes”
Thanks for striking ‘like’ on my blog, but I’m afraid I will never be accused of inspiring someone to run…unless it’s to run away…. and I noticed on your profile “…drink too much…” I didn’t realize that ‘too much’ was an option. Now I’ve got to rethink a few things… 😮
LOL!! I saw this late last night after my third or fourth glass of wine. I would have responded then, but my brain and fingers didn’t want to work together… not sure why.
